As part of James Madison University's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, JMU launched JMU Moves. This app uses smartphone GPS technology, anonymously tracking what routes are being used and when. Collected data will help identify where possible improvements can be made to enhance the campus community.
Working with the client, I helped create the artwork for the JMU Moves app. The goal was to keep it representative of the university and iconic to differentiate it from other apps. JMU Moves can be used while walking, running, cycling, skateboarding, and more. Instead of making a graphic of each type of mobility, the final icon and splash screen features an abstract mark to represent movement and continuous motion.
JMU Moves is available for free download via iTunes. The icon and splash screens were optimized and sized to fit mobile devices as specified by interface developer guidelines.
